Engineering Design Services for Foreign Affairs Security Training Center (FASTC)

The goal of the Foreign Affairs Security Training Center (FASTC) project was to establish a facility to conduct hard skills training focused on embassy security at one location. The need for well-trained personnel which was identified in a report to Congress in 2008 drives this project which will train 8,000 to 10,000 students per year. A 1,400 acre site in Fort Pickett, Virginia, was selected and design began in 2016. As a sub consultant to design excellence architect, Kieran Timberlake, we filled the role of tactical training consultant, providing architectural and engineering design for the 14 hard skills (tactical training) structures, which include a mock embassy compound, three indoor firing ranges and an outdoor 100M range, a live fire shoot house, 14-bay vehicle maintenance shop and a rappel tower . The project is being constructed in five phases and the total cost is projected to be $426 million.
