SOC delivers comprehensive Safeguards, Security, and Emergency Services for the Pantex site, supporting the U.S. Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA). As part of a BWXT-led team, SOC has been awarded a pivotal role in the $30 billion contract for the management and operations of the Pantex Plant. The contract begins with an initial five-year term, with the potential for NNSA to extend it through three additional five-year options, enabling SOC’s commitment to secure and efficient operations at Pantex for up to 20 years.
The NNSA has awarded the contract for the Pantex Plant to PanTeXas Deterrence LLC, a joint venture led by a BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) subsidiary, in partnership with Fluor; SOC, a Day & Zimmermann Company; and The Texas A&M University System.
Pantex, located near Amarillo, Texas, plays a vital role in the nation’s Nuclear Security Enterprise, ensuring the safety, security, and reliability of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile. Key responsibilities at Pantex include supporting nuclear weapons life extension programs, weapons assembly and dismantlement, nuclear surveillance, development and testing of high explosive components, and the interim storage and monitoring of plutonium pits.
With more than 75 years of experience supporting the DOE, Day & Zimmermann, along with SOC, provides essential Safeguards, Security, Emergency Services, Management & Operations, and Architecture and Engineering services to protect critical national security assets, including Category I Special Nuclear Material, within research and production environments.
