SOC Donates 150 Christmas Gifts in 7th Annual Toys for Tots Drive

CHANTILLY, VA – December 17, 2018SOC, a trusted global provider of mission solutions with a history of assuring safe and effective operations for U.S. Government and commercial customers, participated in their 7th annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots Drive, which provides Christmas gifts for less fortunate children throughout Fairfax and Loudon Counties.

This year’s fundraiser, which began in mid-November, aided in the non-profit foundation’s overall mission and goal to collect new, unwrapped toys for America’s most disadvantaged children, sending a message of hope during the holiday season. The final toy collection was part of SOC’s Annual Employee Appreciation Awards Ceremony on Dec. 14.

“While serving as an active duty Marine in Yuma, Ariz. and Richmond, Va., I was given the opportunity not only to support the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program, but also to see firsthand the impact it has on the lives of families across America,” said Aaron Diamant, Account Manager, SOC Federal Services and Toys for Tots Event Manager. “Presently, the program donates an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children annually and we can’t thank our employees enough for contributing to that number.”

Toys for Tots started in 1947 as a mission to bring joy to the lives of less fortunate children in Los Angeles and was the brainchild of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, and his wife, Diane. Seeing such successful community engagement in 1947, the Commandant of the Marine Corps directed all Marine Reserve Sites to implement a Toys for Tots campaign, transforming it into a national community action program in 1948.
