SOC Gives Back to Northern New Mexico
Ten high school seniors from northern New Mexico were honored as 2013 SOC Los Alamos Scholarship Recipients in ceremonies across the extended Rio Arriba County region. For the sixteenth consecutive year, the organization has helped students from this rural region aim high by providing educational opportunities for the young men and women earning top scores in the program’s competitive process.
This year, the sixteenth annual SOC Los Alamos High School Scholarship Program awarded ten $1,000 scholarships to seniors attending the following high schools: Coronado, McCurdy Charter, Mesa Vista, Española, Pojoaque Valley, Peñasco and Escalante. Since 1998, SOC Los Alamos has given $160,000 to local graduating high school seniors. Each recipient was selected because of their academic excellence, demonstrated leadership skills, commitment to community service, and their expressed desire to return to the area and positively impact the communities who have supported them.
