SOC Hawthorne Contributes to 69th Annual Armed Forces Day

Hawthorne, Nevada, known as the largest ammunitions depot in the world, hosted its 69th annual Armed Forces Day parade on May 18. The weekend long celebration is the town's biggest and most important event of the year with 2,800 of the local 3,200 population attending the parade this year. SOC has continued the annual tradition of helping honor the men and women of our Armed Forces by participating in the parade, fireworks, and community activities.

The SOC-designed float was one of 55 entrants, and the team won first place in the Government Float Division. Its design featured a giant American flag surrounded by the Statue of Liberty, a bald eagle with outstretched wings, U.S. Armed Forces flags, and red, white, and blue soaring rockets.

SOC's contributions to this important annual event have always included serving on the Armed Forces Day events committee and assisting with operations of festivities into the weekend.
